Any good sources to find out more about the public votes to end slavery and allow women to vote. I'd be interested to know.

Well, I meant the 13th and 19th Amendments.
Though, thinking about it, I suppose I could have misinterpreted the meaning of "public vote". Ah well, either way, they were passed in the Constitutionally prescribed manner.
